2nd Annual Karaoke Fundraiser

This year's Downriver Young Democrats Karaoke fundraiser, on March 18th at Roosevelt Lanes in Allen Park, was great success. We had a great turnout for our event. Congressman John Dingell and Wayne State Board of Governor's Trustee Debbie Dingell stopped by for a surprise visit. State Representatives Andy Kandrevas, Paul Clemente, Former State Rep. Ed Clemente, and State Senators Hoon-Yung Hopgood, and Rebekah Warren were also in attendance. We raised $392!!
We had many great singers who competed in our Karaoke competition, but we could only have one winner. And the winner was.... Avi and Jack who performing Lady Gaga's song, " Bad Romance." Their winning performance is below. If you think you could beat these guys then be sure to come out to our fundraiser next year and get involved in our other great events, come to our next meeting on the second Saturday in April at the Zodiac at 14795 Dix Toledo Road in
Southgate!!

Downriver Young Democrats go to Lansing

LANSING - The Downriver Young Democrats traveled to Lansing today to join in peaceful protests against Governor Rick Snyder's Budget, and a package of Emergency Financial Manager bills that would galvanize local governments and compromise worker rights.

The protest is the second such protest in two days. Attendance has been estimated to be around 3,000 to 4,000. The DYD traveled alongside UAW Region 1A union members. No DYD members were among the 11 arrested late Wednesday.

Below is video recapping the DYD's experience. Please feel free to share.
